Oct 6th, 2020 – Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga, has called on those aspiring to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta come 2022, to cease the early presidential campaigns.
In a statement, Odinga said the early campaigns that have now turned chaotic, was a step in the wrong direction.
“The spectre of violence and vandalism in the name of a presidential election that is over two years away, should be a serious cause for concern to all peace-loving Kenyans,” said Odinga.
“I, therefore, wish to repeat an appeal we have been making for the last two years. Let us stop the early election campaigns,” he added.
He also called on the security apparatus to fairly and firmly deal with the perpetrators of the violence experienced at Kenol on Sunday, that saw two people killed.
Minority leader at the National Assembly John Mbadi and his Minority Whip Junet Mohammed, now claim that the TangaTanga Wing of Jubilee Party is planning the same chaos witnessed in Kenol, this time in Luo Nyanza.
Addressing the press, Mbadi and Junet, called on the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI), to prove that the Deputy President William Ruto, allied MPs in their church visits, which they say have turned to be violent.
The leaders spoke even as DCI, says they are looking for Members of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro and Alice Wahome to record statements in connection to the Sunday chaos at Kenol.
This follows a directive by the Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai, to have the two MPs tracked and arrested, for allegedly mobilizing youths who caused a commotion at Kenol.
