EACC to investigate a Chinese firm that was contracted to supply mobile clinics

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) is following closely on a case where a Chinese company was contracted to provide portable clinics. The Chinese firm had been overpaid Sh. 400 million for this operation. The EACC hence questions the reason behind the cost charged by the Chinese firm in comparison to those portable clinics done by the Ministry of Health.

Estama limited is the company said to have contracted the Chinese. Currently, the court is said to have given a directive for negotiation and the EACC had consulted the Chinese Embassy and Authorities to come to a mutual legal understanding of the cost of the portable clinics.

The commission now awaits communication from the Chinese authorities so that criminal investigations file can be concluded and forwarded to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for review.
