On Monday 14th September 2020, American Rapper cum Producer, Kanye West, went ballistic on twitter while aiming at Sony Music and other contemporary artists.
The rapper began the string of tweets by announcing that he will never release any song until the day he steps out of Sony Music Group. “I’m not putting no more music out till I’m done with my contract with Sony and Universal,” he tweeted. “On God … in Jesus’ name … come and get me.”
Kanye has famously had issues with EMI publishing – the company that holds his catalog and is owned by Sony. But this time it’s unclear what provoked him.
He went ahead to stress that he is the new Moses. “I need to see everybody’s contracts at Universal and Sony I’m not gonna watch my people be enslaved. I’m putting my life on the line for my people. The music industry and the NBA are modern-day slave ships. I’m the new Moses.”
Ye continued his twitter rampage against music labels and publishing companies by stating he is not in the industry as he is in service to Christ. “We need world healing … I miss my brothers… I refuse to argue with black men on labels we don’t own… even twitter,” Kanye said, before adding, “I have the utmost respect for all brothers … we need to link and respect each other… no more dissing each other on labels we don’t own.”
The ‘Follow God’ hit-maker then urged his fellow artistes not to kill each other and work on showing God that we are His people.
“My ego gets the best of me too,” he shared. “God doesn’t measure us by money in his kingdom … let’s love each other… I love my brothers and I miss my friends … real talk.”
For those who were anticipating his upcoming album dubbed ‘Donda’, they may have to wait a bit longer and hope this new feud will end.
