Governor Muthomi Njuki expected in court after failing to appear on Friday

September 7th 2020 –  Police are now looking for Tharaka Nithi Governor Onesmus Muthomi Njuki, to arraigned in court, where he is expected to be prosecuted over an irregular award of 34.9 million shillings, solid waste project tender. Muthomi failed to present himself before the authorities after the DPP approved his prosecution on Friday.

The governor and other county officials are said to have influenced the awarding of the tender to Westomaxx investment limited even after the company submitted fraudulent documents during tendering. 

“The project was procured, implemented and commissioned without an Environmental Impact Assessment and before being licensed by the National Environment Authority (NEMA),” said DPP Noordin Haji in a statement on Friday evening. 

Westomaxx is said to have procured an incinerator from generation electronic and allied company associated with tharaka nithi governor.

Those to be arraigned alongside the governor are Fridah Muthoni Murungi (Chief Officer Environment and Natural Resources), Floridah Kiende Nyigwah (Acting Director Procurement) and Murithi Njue (Finance Officer).

Meanwhile Lari MP Jonah Mburu, and some members of the CDF committee are also expected to be arraigned in court today to answer to  corruption charges .They were arrested on Friday  after DPP Noordin Haji,  approved their prosecution for embezzlement of  27 million shillings, from the Lari CDF.
