September 6th 2020 – Machakos Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua has today declared his 2022 presidential bid. Serving his second and final term as governor, Mutua announced his run for presidency in Mavoko, Machakos County.
According to the governor, his experience and understanding of the Kenya government’s dynamics, qualify him to be president. He added that one of the major reasons for his campaign, is to transform and improve Kenyans’ lives, “I am proud to be a Kenyan. Najivunia Kuwa Mkenya but I am troubled by what I view as a disconnect between where we should be and where we are. Many good things have occurred in our country and I thank the leaders who have guided us up to where we are today.”
Mutua added that, the citizens are exhausted of the governing system, saying he agonizes with the pain and political circus in the country.
“When you support me, you will be supporting someone who is tried and tested. A person who understands the system but is not a captive of the system. Kenyans do not want politics. Kenyans want a doer. We are tired of government plans that never get implemented,” he said.
Addressing the issue of unemployment amongst the youths, Dr. Mutua promised that his government, will ensure the Kenyan Education system produces young and dynamic citizens, who will be able to access employment and venture into different businesses easily.
“This morning, millions of educated and hardworking youth woke up unemployed and broke and this evening they will go to bed still jobless and broke,” said Mutua.
The governor added that he will create 5 million jobs in his first 3 years as president.
“I pledged to give a new period of better leadership and life” he said.
Other candidates who have declared interest in the 2022 presidency seat are Deputy President William Ruto, Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana and Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi.
