The Ministry of Interior has frozen finances and property, belonging to nine individuals believed to be supporting Al-Shabaab terrorism in the country.
In a statement on Wednesday, 2nd of September, Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i said that the accused have been financing the Al – Shabaab terrorist group.
Namely, the suspects are: Halima Adan Ali, Waleed Ahmed Zein, Sheikh Guyo Gorsa Boru, Mohammed Abdi Ali, Nuseiba Mohammed Haji, Abdimajit Adan Hassan, Mohammed Ali Abdi, Muktar Ibrahim Ali and Mire Abdullahi Elmi.
The CS also indicated that the government will continue to disrupt terrorist operations in the country, and bring to book all perpetrators involved.
“The only way to end terrorism is by cutting the perpertators’ facilitation networks, and this is why I published the nine names, so that they can no longer finance Al-Shabaab operations within our borders,” said Dr Matiang’i.
The CS however, did not reveal the exact details of the activities financed by the nine.
